Is the paint application on the hands(Gripping/Fist particularly) poor?
It's just I've seen and heard that the palms of those aren't painted.

The fists are fine for mines although the palms are indeed not painted on mines for the gripping hands. I guess since you're gonna have the sword in Link's hands, they thought painting the palms wasn't needed, plus the paint could scratch off onto the sword.
